From the Greek humnos, a hymn is an ode or song of praise of a god or hero. Hymns for women carry a special significance in their worship of a woman’s strength or valor rather than her beauty or virtue.

This concert will feature music and poetry by Sappho, Kassia, Theodosia Roussos, and others.
