DIRECTOR'S NOTE
Lullabies, as a genre, have not only historically preserved a sacred space for women’s voices, they also provide a vehicle to warn youth about various dangers in society, often foreshadowing inevitable tragedies. As with the far too many losses of black life at the hands of police, when I heard George Floyd cry for his mother with his last breaths while I was six months pregnant, and again when Breonna Taylor was murdered in her sleep, I felt heartbroken, angry, and turned to art for solace.
